St. Louis, MO - The Thomas O. Sobbe Cup Matches are entering into the Quarterfinals. The competition began the summer with 51 teams. The teams were broken up into 17 divisions of 3 teams, where they would play round-robin within their group. The top team from each division was then eligible for the knockout stage. With only 16 available spots and 17 groups, teams were ranked based on the number of points they accumulated in the group stage. The sixteenth and seventeenth seeded teams would have to play a sudden death match to determine which team would make it into the Round of 16. The team rankings (seeds) following group play were as follows:

  Algonquin Golf Club and Quincy Country Club played the sudden death match to get into the Round of 16. Algonquin GC would win the match and move on in the competition. All teams were paired up for the Round of 16 with the number one seed playing the sixteenth seed, second playing the fifteenth seed, and so on. The Round of 16’s eight matches were as follows:

Match 2 - Whitmoor Country Club North (No. 8)    vs.      Spring Lake Country Club II (No. 9)
Match 3 - The Legends Country Club I (No. 4)        vs.      St. Louis Country Club (No. 13)
Match 4 - Franklin County Country Club (No. 5)     vs.      Sugar Creek Golf Club (No. 12)
Match 5 - Persimmon Woods Golf Club (No. 2)       vs.      Meadowbrook Country Club (No. 15)
Match 6 - Glen Echo Country Club (No. 7)              vs.      Old Hickory Golf Club I (No.10 )
Match 7 - Highland Country Club (No. 3)                vs.      Spring Lake Country Club I (No. 14)
Match 8 - Lake Forest Country Club I (No. 6)          vs.      Bogey Hills Country Club (No. 11)

Matches 1 through 4 make up one side of the Sobbe Cup Bracket, while Matches 5 through 8 make up the other side. The winners of Matches 1 and 2 will play each other next, as will the winners of Matches 3 and 4, Matches 5 and 6, and Match 7 and 8. The teams moving on from the Round of 16 will compete in the Quarterfinals, which will be completed by September 11. The Quarterfinal match-ups will be:
