Remembering Carol Fromuth
Carol Fromuth was a recipient of the Metropolitan Meritorious Service Award, the Association’s highest honor, in 2011 because of her dedication and service to golf in St. Louis. A certified Rules Official, she would lend a helping hand as a Rules Official for Metropolitan Championships and USGA Qualifiers, as well as serving as a rules official for NCAA D-1 championships. Carol was also a 2022 St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame inductee. This was in part due to her incredible coaching career at St. Joseph’s Academy, where she led the team to ten State Championship titles in her 27 years of coaching - including 7 consecutive titles from 2016 to 2022. Prior to her time at St. Joseph’s Academy, she was a basketball and golf coach at Lafayette High School, where she started the school’s girls golf team. Carol served as the Junior Golf Director for the Gateway PGA section for ten years. She leaves behind her role as the Executive Tour Director of the Accelerated Golf Tour, aiming to provide collegiate and advanced level high school golfers a space to compete in the summer. Carol served on the USGA Junior Girls’ Committee and the Ladies National Golf Association Board.
Carol loved this game of golf and cared about its future. She always kept in touch with her former golf team members and loved to see where life took them. On and off the course, she had a deep love for the game that connects us. Carol was passionate about the growth of junior golf and the love of the game in this area. She leaves behind a lasting legacy and will be missed by all who knew her.
Carol Fromuth passed away on February 14, 2025. She was 88 years old. Our condolences go out to her family, friends, and golf teams.
