100 Hole Hike is Coming to St. Louis!
St. Louis, MO - The Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association is holding a 100 Hole Hike to raise funds for Youth on Course on September 26 at the Family Golf & Learning Center.
The 100 Hole Hike is a one day challenge where hikers (i.e. golfers) play 100 holes of golf before they run out of sunlight. Each hiker sets a goal for the funds they would like to raise, and then asks their network of friends, family, and colleagues to donate or pledge an amount for each hole of golf they successfully complete. The 100 Hole Hike is considered the ultimate fundraising challenge in golf and benefits an important cause in the game.
You can take part in the 100 Hole Hike in multiple ways. Firstly, you can make a donation to a hiker’s goal, which goes directly to our hike total and helps them reach their goal. Golfers can make their hike, but it is your donations that make this event possible. Secondly, for the brave souls that feel ready to take on the challenge, you can sign up as a hiker. You will set your fundraising goal, raise your funds, and then join your fellow hikers for the hike. This year there is a third option for those that want to join the hike, but do not think they can complete the 100 holes alone or have a strong enough network to raise their intended goal alone. You can now create a team to take on the challenge in a tandem and raise funds together. The 100 Hole Hike is a challenge, as it is a walking only event. Playing as a team allows you to participate, raise more money, and disperse the weight of walking and playing 100 holes.
Playing 100 holes is a daunting and tiresome challenge, so support the day of is highly encouraged. Bring your fan club out to cheer you on throughout the day. If you can convince a friend or family member to caddy for you, bring them along! For those just curious about checking out the event, stop by and see what it is all about. We encourage the support from family, friends, and the community during the hike. The more support the better, as it helps push participants to complete each hole and spreads awareness of the purpose of the 100 Hole Hike.
All proceeds from our 100 Hole Hike go directly to Youth on Course in St. Louis to help area kids access and play golf at an affordable rate.
