Neeman and Bremer Lead Metropolitan Senior Amateur
Belleville, IL - It was a successful Round 1 of the 31st Metropolitan Senior Amateur at St. Clair Country Club. The weather was perfect for a day of golf with sunny skies and a cool breeze. Eighty players teed it up in the first round beginning at 7:30 in the morning. Thirty-seven players are competing for the George F. Meyer trophy and the title of the Metropolitan Senior Amateur Champion.
Paul Neeman and David Bremer, both of Persimmon Woods Golf Club, sit tied at the top of the leaderboard at three-under (-3) par. Neeman and Bremer each finished their rounds strong with a birdie on 18. Following behind, tied for third are Brian Hall of Persimmon Woods and Brian Lovett of Bellerive Country Club with scores of even (E) par. David Strickland of Tapawingo National Golf Club is in solo fifth place at one-over (+1) par.
After Round 1, in the age divisions Jim Mauze of St. Louis Country Club leads the 50-59 group in both the gross and net with scores of seven-over (+7) par and six-over (+6) par respectively. In the 60-64 age group, Kevin Erxleben of the Metropolitan eClub also leads the gross and net with scores of even (E) par and three-over (+3) par, respectively. Patrick Idoux of the Metropolitan eClub leads the 65-69 age group with a gross score of even (E) par and a net score of one-under (-1) par. In the 70 and over age group, R Amos of Old Warson Country Club leads with a gross score of three-over (+3) par. King Edmonston of the Metropolitan eClub leads the 70 and over net division with a score of three-over (+3) par.
The Final Round will begin at 8:00 am with players going off of Holes 1 and 10.
