The PJ Boatwright Internship program is one of the USGA’s greatest achievements. MAGA has reaped the benefits of this program since its inception. So many fine young men and women have been a part of MAGA’s tournament program through the years. In fact, MAGA Executive Director Curt Rohe was the PJ Boatwright Intern in 1998-99 before becoming a full-time staff person in 2001.
This year we are excited to have Bill Hebron (DeSmet; Mizzou) and Riley O’Neill (SLUH; Mizzou) on board for the season. For Hebron, this will be his second summer with MAGA. He spent 2011 as part of our team and wanted to have another go at for 2012. O’Neill, who will be graduating from Mizzou this spring, has been around the game at a high level for many years. He has spent his summer since 2007 working at golf’s major championships with his father, Dan O’Neill of the Post-Dispatch, working for Getty Images as a photo assistant.
MAGA is looking forward to another successful year of Championships and Qualifying Rounds. These two young men will be an integral part of that process and to the success of those events.
