2012 US Women’s Open Sectional Qualifying
Two Punch Tickets To US Women’s Open
Early, light rain fell for about the first 30 minutes of the US Women’s Open Sectional Qualifying Tuesday morning at Glen Echo CC. Overcast skies took over for the rest of the morning before the sun came out to heat things up into the afternoon. Fifty-five ladies teed it up this morning in hopes of securing one of the 2 qualifying spots available to the Blackwolf Run July 5-8 in Kohler, WI.
The morning 18 saw one score under par, a 1-under 70 posted by professional Isabelle Beisiegel (Broken Arrow, OK). Coming in at Even par was Alexandra Braga (Sun Valley, CA), another of the 10 professionals in the field. Rounding out the top 4 were two amateurs, local standout Missouri State Univ. product Catherine Dolan (Ballwin, MO) and recent NCAA Division I Champion and Univ. of Alabama product Brooke Pancake (Chattanooga, TN).
In the afternoon the sun came out and the temps warmed up. Beisiegel stayed hot, firing an Even par 71 to finish at 1-under 141 for the 36-holes and earn medalist honors and a ticket to Blackwolf Run. Pancake continued her fine play into Round 2 as well, firing a 1-under par 70 for a 142 total to earn the second spot and low amateur medal.
