“Road to Merion” Continues For Eight Individuals

Aberdeen GoAberdeen LOGOlf Club played host to the 2013 US Open Local Qualifying Wednesday as one of the approximately 110 sites around the country.  The golf course was in perfect condition proved to be a tremendous test in identifying our eight (8) qualifiers.  Adam Long was the medalist on the day with a low round of 4-under 67.  With 2-under 69, amateurs Joe Migdal and Alex Cusumano advance to Sectional Qualifying.  The next three spots went to Justin Bryant, Zach Barlow and Carr Vernon with 1-under par 70 scores.

The final two spots were decided in a 3 for 2 playoff among 3 amateurs.  Todd Mitchell, Kyle Weldon and Skip Berkmeyer fired Even par 71 and went 3 extra holes to decide the playoff.  Weldon and Berkmeyer each birdied Hole #1 at Aberdeen to earn those spots, Mitchell wound up as 1st Alternate.  The 2nd Alternate position went to Ted Moloney who made a birdie on the 2nd playoff hole in a 4 for 2 for that position.

US Open Sectional Qualifying will be conducted Monday, June 3rd at 11 sites around the country, including here in St. Louis at Old Warson Country Club.  Long is the only one of the 8 qualifiers who is not planning on qualifying at Old Warson on June 3rd.  See the full results via the MAGA Scoreboard link below.
