Weldon Leads Day 1 of APL Qualifying
Kyle Weldon leads after round 1 of US Amateur Public Links Qualifying after a 2-under round of 67, par was 69 today due to a severely wet fairway which turned the 13th hole into a par 3. Weldon made 4 birdies during his round at holes 3, 5, 15 and 18.
Two shots back at Even par sits Steven Souchek, he also had 4 birdies on his scorecard but a double bogey at 16 cost him the tie with Weldon. Derek Mason came in at 1-over par 70.
Past APL Qualifiers Tony Gumper (2010) and Mitchell Rutledge (2012) sit in a tie for 4th after 2-over par 71.
Round 2 will be played starting at 7:00am, the lead group of Mason, Souchek and Weldon will go at 9:10am.
