Junior Amateur Completes Round 1 at Quail Creek
The 14th Junior Amateur Championship kicked off today at Quail Creek Golf Club in South County today.
In the Girls division, 6 girls teed it up to compete for the Barbara A. Berkmeyer Trophy. Leading the way after Round 1 is 17 year old Jordan Leonard (Norwood Hills CC) with an 83 over the 5244 yard course. One shot back is Elizabeth Leath (Four Seasons CC).
The Boys 12-13 Division had 2 competitors. Nathaniel Conroy (Metropolitan GC) had an 89, while Joshua Garrett (Old Hickory GC) fired an 94 to open the Championship.
The Boys 14-15 and 16-17 Divisions all play from the same course and compete for the James M. Holtgrieve Trophy. Coming out of those two Divisions, 15 year old Chris Ferris (Aberdeen GC) leads after a 4-over par 76. One-shot back is 16 year old Clayton Voss (Franklin County CC) after his 77.
