The 8th Metropolitan Open Championship field is set with a 138 total players registered for this years event.  While that is slightly down from 2012, we are excited to announce that a field of 79 amateurs and 59 golf professionals have registered to compete at St. Albans for the James S. Manion Trophy.  The professionals will also be competing for the largest winning check in the 8 year history of the Championship at $13,500.

59 professionals is by far the most the championship has had register in the history of the event.  This year, 19 states and Canada are represented in the field of professionals.  Defending champion Mitchell Gregson (pictured left) is returning after his 13-under par performance in 2012.  Gregson will begin defense of his title at 1:20pm on Hole 10 while playing with Zach Barlow and Ted Moloney.

Two time champion Shawn Jasper is also returning to St. Albans, he won in 2010 and 2011.  Jasper begins his championship at 8:14am on Hole 10 and is grouped with Derek Tolan (Colorado) and 2013 MAGA Match Play Champion Garrett Sneed.

CC of St. Albans touring professional Jay Delsing is in the field for the first time, Delsing narrowly missed qualifying for the US Senior Open this past week, finishing one shot back of the playoff.  Delsing will be grouped for the first two days with 2006 Champion Skip Berkmeyer and Jace Long.  They will begin on Hole #1 at 1:09pm Thursday.
