Professionals from 19 states, 1 Canadian coming to St. Albans next week

The 8th Open Championship has attracted more professionals each year, this year 59 professionals have registered, a new high!  Out of those 59, 7 are Gateway PGA professionals while the other 52 are coming from 19 different states and 1 from Canada.

Here are a few story lines from our visiting professionals next week.

Derek Smith of Rogers, Arkansas has been a member of the Adams Golf Pro Tour since 2007.

…Former KU Jayhawk, Chris Thompson, has been a contender on professional mini tours since 2006.  Spending 2007 and 2008 as a full-time member of the Nationwide Tour (Web.com Tour), he has also earned multiple victories on the eGolf Professional Tour.

…Omaha, NE native, Judd Cornell is a current member of the Adams Golf Pro Tour and is no stranger to the St. Louis area, as he played his U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying at Old Warson this season.

…a 2009 graduate of the University of Nebraska, Mark Pillen of Richmond, Texas has been a member of the Adams Golf Pro Tour since 2011.

Sam Lyons of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina turned pro in 2012.  The Coastal Carolina grad has built his professional resume on the eGolf Professional Tour as well as the NGA Hooters Tour.

…former University of Central Florida stand-out, Jhared Hack, earned his full-time status on the PGA Latin America Tour in 2013 by playing to medalist honors at the U.S. qualifying tournament in Sebring, FL.  Hack was the 2006 Western Junior Champ and 2007 Western Amateur Champ.

Ryan Brooks played at the University of Tulsa before turning pro in 2011.  Playing primarily on the Adams Golf Professional Tour since then, Brooks has multiple top-10 professional finishes.

…Wichita State grad, Zechariah Potter, has played, and played well, on nearly every professional tour in the U.S.  From the NGA Hooters Tour and eGolf Professional Tour to the Web.com Tour, Potter has a consistent game that has gained him a solid finishes at every level.
