Two time champ leads into final round
Shawn Jasper will attempt a wire-to-wire win Saturday in the final round of the 8th Open Championship presented by Plaza Motors. Jasper had an Even par round of 70 today to stay at 4-under for the championship following his Thursday 66.
The 2010 and 2011 champ had some company early as Chris Thompson (Lawrence, KS) was hot early on and got to 7-under for the championship when he went on a 8 hole stretch with 6 birdies, but then 4 bogeys on the back 9 brought him back to 3-under.
Christian Heavens (Fairview Heights, IL) definitely had the highlight round of the day with a 66. Heavens made the turn at 3-over par for the championship, but a 29 on the front, his second nine catapulted him up the leaderboard to 3-under. This 9 holes included back-to-back eagles at holes 5 & 6.
Forty-six player made the cut at 147 to play Saturday, 34 professional and 12 amateurs. It should be a great final round, hole-by-hole scoring of the final 6 groups will be live. Jasper and Heavens will be in the final pairing and will go at 10:40am.
