Metropolitan Women’s Amateur Begins Tuesday at St. Louis CC

The 21st Metropolitan Women’s Amateur Championship begins tomorrow at St. Louis Country Club with one of our largest fields ever. Sixty-five ladies are registered to compete at the site of the 2014 Curtis Cup!

The Championship Flight consists of 19 of the area’s top female amateurs, including recently crowned Missouri State Women’s Amateur Catherine Dolan. Dolan captured her second state title last week at Old Kinderhook GC at the Lake of the Ozarks. Ellen Port will attempt to add her name for the 13th time to the Jayne M. Watson Trophy, she finished runner-up to Dolan last week.

Two-time defending champion Schwete Galande will not compete in the 2013 Championship. After completing her collegiate career at UMSL this spring, she went back to her native India and has turned professional.

Additionally, three other flights will compete at St. Louis CC. These flights were pre-determined and ladies will compete for Net Champions and Runner-Up in each flight.
