Old Warson Cup: Three Top Seeds Reach Sunday Semifinals
It was a picture perfect day in terms of the weather and was almost a picture perfect bracket at the 2014 Old Warson Cup. In the morning Round of 16 the top 8 seeds all advanced and then the 3 top seeds have made their way into Sunday’s Semifinals.
Leading way is 5-time match play champion Skip Berkmeyer (Aberdeen GC). He had two relatively easy victories on Saturday, rolling to 5&4 wins in both of his matches.
The #2 seed, Kyle Weldon (Metropolitan GC) has found his way to Sunday in his first match play appearance. The 2-time defending Metroolitan Amateur champion had wins of 6&4 and 2&1.
A match play veteran, Phil Caravia (Norwood Hills CC) and #3 seed makes another appearance in the Semifinals. Caravia had victories of 4&2 and 4&3 on Saturday.
The last semifinalist is Alex Cusumano (Metropolitan GC) and #5 seed coming in. He would advance with wins of 3&2 and 2&1.
The first semifinal Sunday will go at 7:00am and feature Berkmeyer vs. Cusumano with the 2nd semifinal at 7:10am of Weldon vs. Caravia. For all of Saturday’s results and Sunday’s pairings, please visit the Plaza Motors scoreboard by clicking here.
