Gardiner Qualifies for US Senior Open
Mark Gardiner (Mascoutah, IL; Cardinal Creek GC) shot a sensational 2-under par 70 today on a tough layout at The Legends Country Club in Eureka to secure the lone qualifying spot into the 2014 US Senior Open. Gardiner had a great front nine where he found himself at 3-under on the day and birdied the 10th to get to -4. He would find some trouble on the rest of the back nine, but birdie the always tough 18th to get it back to -2 on the day.
Gardiner’s fellow-competitor, JC Anderson had a level par round of 72 which would secure a 1st Alternate position. Anderson tied with Jim Woodward of Oklahoma, but Woodward would not stick around which left the 1st Alternate to Anderson.
The 2014 US Senior Open will be played July 10-13 at Oak Tree National in Edmond, OK.
All of the days scores are available on the Plaza Motors Scoreboard, 2014 US Senior Open.
