KCGA Retains Mid-America Cup After 4-4 Tie

The Kansas City Golf Association and Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association forged a 4-4 tie in the 2014 Mid-America Junior Cup this weekend at Fox Run Golf Club for KCGA to return to western Missouri with the Mid-America Cup.  Congratulations to Captain Dave Jackson and his team!

There were a lot of great matches over the two days, but the best match may have been today’s first Foursome match.  Momo Kikuchi and Crimson Callahan won a hard-fought match over Olivia Laub and Nicholas Klock 1up. Neither side ever had a lead of more than 1up the entire way.  Momo, a 12-year old seventh grader, sunk several big putts during the round to either keep MAGA in the match or charge ahead.  The match came to Hole 18 at Fox Run with MAGA leading 1up.   The teams would halve the hole for the MAGA victory.

The real congratulations goes to the 16 fine young men and women who represented their Associations, communities and themselves this weekend.  They were a fantastic group of kids to be around this weekend.
