The “official” kickoff to the MAGA Tournament Season takes place this weekend with the 2015 Old Warson Cup. Old Warson is the permanent home to the Association’s match play championship and the name was changed to “The Old Warson Cup” 2013.

Sixteen of the St. Louis areas top amateurs will compete for the Old Warson Cup. These 16 players were invited based on their finish on the 2014 MAGA Player of the Year Point Standings. 2014 Old Warson Cup Champion Phil Caravia (Norwood Hills CC) finished as the 2014 Player of the Year and will come in as the #1 Seed. Caravia defeated Alex Cusumano (Norwood Hills CC) in 19 Holes to capture the 2014 title. He will face Cy Moritz (Sullivan CC) in the Round of 16 Saturday morning.

Kyle Weldon (Metropolitan Golf Club), will be the #2 Seed. Weldon is coming off a red-shirt season at Kansas State University and did not compete for the Wildcats this past year. He is a 2-time Metropolitan Amateur Champion, capturing the title in 2012 at Old Warson. Weldon will face Van Pierce (CC of St. Albans) in his Round of 16 match.

Five-time Match Play Champion Skip Berkmeyer (The Legends CC) is the #3 seed this weekend. He will meet Buddy Allen (Joachim GC) on Saturday in their first match.

Rounding out the top 4 seeds is Joe Migdal (Aberdeen GC). Migdal will get Andy Frost (Bellerive CC) to start off the 2015 Old Warson Cup.

Sam Migdal (Aberdeen GC), recently captured the NCAA Division II Men’s Individual Championship for the Central Missouri State University. Migdal is the #12 Seed and will face CMSU teammate and 2014 Amateur Champion Teddy Jones (Aberdeen GC) in the first round.

Quarterfinal matches will be played in the afternoon on Saturday. Sunday morning the Semifinal matches will begin at 7:00am with the 18-hole final match beginning approximately 11:30am.

Follow all the matches via the MAGA website from the outset Saturday morning. Spectators are welcome to attend the matches and see the area’s top amateurs contend for the 2015 Old Warson Cup!
