Trio Leads Metropolitan Open After Round 1

Jordan Russell, Adam Schenk and Steven Ihm all posted 4-under rounds of 66 on Friday at The Country Club of St. Albans to find themselves atop the leaderboard after one round of the 10th Metropolitan Open.

Russell played in the afternoon wave on Friday, this is the Texas A&M products 2nd visit to St. Albans.  He finished T-11 in 2014.  Schenk and Ihm are each making their first appearance in the Metropolitan Open.  Schenk, a Purdue graduate, finished Runner-up last week in the Indiana Open Championship.  Ihm played at the University of Iowa and was ranked in the top 25 in the World Amateur Rankings.

2014 Runner-up Chris Thompson sits alone in 4th place after his opening 3-under 67, Thompson had a double-bogey to end his day on the always tough 18th finishing hole.  A total of 9 golfers played Round 1 in under par, including 2012 Champion Mitchell Gregson at 69.

Amateurs Sam Migdal and Mitch Rutledge joined defending champion Chris Brant and six others at Even par on the day.

Round 2 will be played Saturday after which a cut will be made to the low 40 scores and ties for Sunday’s final round.  For Round 2 Starting Times and LIVE Scoring visit the Plaza Motors Scoreboard at the following link below.
