Schroeder Repeats; Terschluse Fires 64 To Win MAGA Junior Titles
Abby Schroeder held off one of the deepest Girls fields the MAGA Junior has seen in years to repeat as the MAGA Junior Girls Champion. The MICDS student had rounds of 78-74-151 to capture the Barbara A. Berkmeyer Trophy at The Bogey Club. Shannon Gould started the day one shot back of Schroeder, but could not make up any ground with a 74 herself on Tuesday.
Joe Terschluse came from 4 shots back on Monday to win by 4 shots Tuesday. The Chaminade Prep student had a stellar round of 7-under 64 in Round 2 to follow up his Even par Round 1. Terschluse will add his name to James M. Holtgrieve Trophy. With their wins Tuesday, Schroeder and Terschluse automatically earn a spot on the Mid-America Junior Cup team that will compete in Kansas City in October. Michael Okeefe II and Drew Faust (pictured top right) tied for Runner-Up honors at 3-under par.
In the boys 14-15 Age Division, Max Kreikemeier (left pic, right) would earn the title with a 1-under total 141. Jaden Nilsen (left pic, left) finished 3 shots back as Runner-Up in the 14-15 Age Division.
In the boys 12-13 Age Division, a playoff would decide the final result. Riley Burns and Kal Kolar tied at 151. Burns would earn the title on the first playoff hole.
In the girls Age 12-13 Division, extra holes would also be needed to decide the final results. Momo Kikuchi (bottom right) would outlast Brooke Biermann in the playoff to earn the title. Each of these young ladies finished 36-hole with scores of 72-73-145.
Many thanks to The Bogey Club for hosting the 16th Metropolitan Junior Amateur. With 86 Juniors registered, this was the largest field in the history of the Championship.
