Chris Harris Medalist; Mitchell and Echelmeier Advance in 4 for 2 Playoff
Chris Harris (Atlanta, GA) started the day 5 shots back of leader, Jack Knoesel but turned in the low round of Tuesday to make up those shots and earn medalist honors in US Amateur Qualifying at Meadowbrook Country Club. Harris had rounds of 72-69-141 for a 3-under total.
Four others finished behind Harris by a shot. Todd Mitchell, Will Echelmeier, Wes Hillen and first round leader Jack Knoesel would decide the final two spots in a 4 for 2 playoff. Echelmeier would earn the 2nd spot on the fourth hole, Hole 18 with a par. Mitchell would earn the final spot on Hole 10, the 5th playoff hole, after making a long birdie putt from just off the putting green. Knoesel’s birdie putt slid past the hole to be 1st Alternate.
The 2015 US Amateur will be played August 17-23 at Olympia Fields Country Club in Chicago, IL.
