25th Amateur Championship Set for Boone Valley Golf Club July 30 – August 1
156 Players to compete for Jim Tom Blair Trophy

tedjonestrophyThe Metropolitan Amateur Championship will be conducted July 30 – August 1 at Boone Valley Golf Club. This will be the silver anniversary of the area’s most prestigious amateur championship and most coveted Jim Tom Blair Trophy.

Bryan McMurray, General Manager of Boone Valley Golf Club, commented on the opportunity to host this edition of the Amateur. “On behalf of Boone Valley’s ownership and membership we are excited to host the 2015 Metropolitan Amateur Championship.  Boone Valley has a history of hosting great championships. The venue will provide players a balanced test, unbeatable atmosphere and unparalleled service that Boone Valley is proud of.”

A full field of 156 of the areas amateurs will descend on Boone Valley in Augusta. Five former champions are in the field, including Teddy Jones who will be defending his 2014 title. Jones won in an exciting playoff that lasted eight holes at Westwood Country Club last summer.

Joining Jones at 8:58am off the #1 Tee in Round 1 will be former champions Jim Holtgrieve (1994) and Skip Berkmeyer (2009). Also at 8:58am off the #10 Tee will be Tom Barry (1996) and Bob Beckmann (2000), they will be grouped with current MAGA Player of the Year Phil Caravia.

“MAGA is excited to have this opportunity to celebrate and share this milestone championship with Boone Valley. We will hosting a dinner for Past Champions the evening of Round 1 where we have 9 former champions joining us at the Club to celebrate.” – Curt Rohe, MAGA Executive Director.

MAGA will provide live 3-hole scoring during the Championship and hole-by-hole scoring of the final groups during the final round Saturday. Scoring can be accessed on the MAGA website at METGA.ORG.

The Championship is free for the public to attend to see some of the best amateurs from the St. Louis Metropolitan region compete on one of the top courses in Missouri.
