Migdal Leads 25th Amateur After 5-under 66
Sam Migdal shot a 5-under round of 66 at Boone Valley Golf Club Thursday to lead the 25th Amateur Championship after Round 1. Migdal, the 2015 NCAA Division II individual champion, holds a 2 shot advantage over Zach Cutler.
2009 Champion Skip Berkmeyer finds himself 3 shots back after his 2-under 69 in Round 1. Berkmeyer played with past champions Jim Holtgrieve (1994) who had a round of Even 71 and defending champion Teddy Jones who opened with 75.
Four others finished under par at 70 on the day, Nick Arman, Scott Seibert, Tim Jasper and Ryan Sullivan.
Round 2 will take place Friday at Boone Valley. The field will be cut to the low 40 scores and ties after Friday’s second round.
