Gardiner, Lewis Medalists in US Mid-Amateur at Aberdeen

Three individuals qualified for the 2015 US Mid-Amateur Championship Tuesday at Aberdeen GC.  2014 MAGA Senior Player of the Year Mark Gardiner, now a resident of Schertz, TX, and Matt Lewis led the way with 2-under par 69’s to earn medalist honors.

The 3rd spot went to Dave Ryan of Taylorville, IL.  Ryan and Chad Niezing were tied at Even par 71 and went to a playoff to decided the final spot.  After each making a par on the 480 yard Hole 18, Ryan would birdie the 2nd playoff hole to earn the spot.  Niezing would be 1st Alternate and Skip Berkmeyer was 2nd Alternate.  Ryan will be playing in his 3rd USGA Championship of 2015.  He qualified, played and made the cut in the US Senior Open in June and will be exempt into the US Senior Amateur later this month in New Jersey.
