Wisconsin Native Woltman Leads Open by Three
Dan Woltman (Beaver Dam, WI) had backed up his 4-under par 66 on Friday with a 64 Saturday to sleep on the lead in the Metropolitan Open heading to the Final Round. Starting on Hole 10 in Round 2, Woltman said “an Eagle at 14 jumpstarted my round.”
Chasing Woltman is 2014 Champion Chris Brant. Brant lead after Round 1 with a 65 and followed up today with a 68 to finished 7-under. Brant and Woltman will make up the Final pairing Sunday and tee off at 10:50am.
Patrick Newcomb (Benton, KY) tied the tournament course record on Saturday with a 63 to climb up the leaderboard. Newcomb ties Mitchell Gregson who shot 63 in 2012 enroute to his victory.
In total, 47 players survived the cut at 143 to reach the Final Round Sunday, including 3 amateurs. 2015 Low Amateur Sam Migdal, 2006 Champion Skip Berkmeyer and 2014 Low Amateur Alex Cusumano will tee it up Sunday in the Final Round.
