17th Junior Champions Crowned at Franklin County CC

Home field advantage never hurts anyone and Tommy Alferman proved that over 2 days of the 17th Metropolitan Junior Amateur Championship on his home course at Franklin County CC.  Alferman fired back-to-back round of 1-under par 70 to capture the title and James M. Holtgrieve Trophy.  His victory had an 8-shot cushion over David Meindl.

In the Girls Championship, 13 year old Brooke Biermann took home the title with rounds of 73-78 to win the title.  Biermann, a Country Club of St. Albans member, was tied for the lead after day one with Lacey Snell.  Biermann puts her name on the Barbara A. Berkmeyer Trophy.

Alferman and Biermann automatically earn spots on the 2016 Mid-America Junior Cup Team which will compete against the KCGA in October at St. Louis Country Club.

The only other subpar round of the day was in the Boys 12-13 Division, Kal Kolar put a red 70 on Tuesday to build upon his lead from Round 1 and win his Division.
