Eckelkamp Alone Atop at Glen Echo After 67 in Round 1
Franklin County Country Club’s Ryan Eckelkamp fired a 3-under par 67 to sit alone at the top of the leaderboard of the 26th Amateur Championship after Round 1 at Glen Echo Country Club. Eckelkamp had 5 birdies on the day, including 3 straight on Holes 16-18, to finish his opening 9. Two bogeys on the day tallied up the 67 to lead the Amateur.
Three golfers completed play at 1-under 69 on the day. Reilly Ahearn (Persimmon Woods GC), Steven Souchek (The Prairies) and Glen Echo’s own Andrew Pranger sit 2 shots back of Eckelkamp.
One back of that trio are 5 golfers at Even, including 2009 Champion Skip Berkmeyer (The Legends CC) and recent St. Louis District Champion Darren Stoffel (Glen Echo CC).
