Eisenbeis Earns Senior Amateur Title at WingHaven
Jack Eisenbeis captured his first MAGA championship Tuesday at WingHaven CC in the 24th Senior Amateur. Eisenbeis has been a staple at MAGA championships over the years, but title has eluded him until Tuesday. Upon congratulating Eisenbeis after he completed his scorecard he said, “I am over the hump!”
Leading after the 1st round Monday with a 1-under 71, Eisenbeis held off a charge from David Johnson whom he played with and Bob Hanneken. Eisenbeis birdied the 36th hole of the championship to claim the victory. Hanneken came from 6 shots back after day 1 to post a 2-under 70 and 147 total. Johnson, who Eisenbeis has battled in prior years as members of Norwood Hills, started the day one back but could not quite catch his long time friend.
