KCGA Retains Mid-America Junior Cup with 5-3 Victory at St. Louis CC
The Mid-America Junior Cup will remain on the west side of Missouri for another year. The KCGA team capped off a weekend of wonderful matches with a 5-3 victory Sunday over MAGA to retain the cup. Of the eight (8) matches played this weekend, only two matches did not reach the 17th hole at St. Louis CC.
Beginning the day one point back at 2.5-1.5, MAGA needed 3 points to win the cup back from KCGA. KCGA got on the board first on Sunday with a 5&3 victory by Megan Propeck/Michael Winslow over Brooke Biermann/Zach Walsh. The 3 matches behind them were all extremely tight however.
Momo Kukichi/Zach Shirley put MAGA on the board with a 3&2 win over Julia Misemer/Jackson Likes, putting the matches standing at 3.5-2.5. Madison DeRousse/Joe Terschluse found themselves 4 down early after 7 holes. However, they battled back and squared the match with 4 consecutive wins after Hole 11. Taylor Black/Joe Bultman would effectively decide the 2016 Junior Cup with a win at 16 to guarantee the half-point KCGA needed to retain the cup.
Shannon Gould/Tommy Alferman squared their match with Indan Gaume/Sam Parrott with a birdie on 17 and would ended up with a Halved result to complete the 5-3 win by KCGA.
