If you were following the live scoring this afternoon of the Final Round of the 31st Normandie you were seeing a tight race was coming down the stretch.  With the final group going to the back 9, there was a tie at the top between Round 1 leader Craig Hardcastle, Jr. and Scott Kirchoff at 1-under.  

The back 9 continued to be a tight race with three golfers tied at Even par as Tom Barry made a par on 18 to post a 36-hole total of Even par.   

Then all of a sudden, like the lightning bolts that rained down the night before, Scott Kirchoff posted eagle at 15 and birdie at 16 to vault to a 3-shot lead.  Another birdie at 17 pushed him to 4-under for the championship and a 3-shot cushion going to the enviable 250 yard par 3 Normandie 18th.  Kirchoff would bogey 18, but the story headlines were already being printed.  A 3 shot victory over 3-time Normandie Amateur champion Tom Barry with rounds of 71-68-139.
