Solovic, Hoemann Lead Way at 18th Junior Championship

Claire Solovic, a sophomore at Seckman High School, fired the low round of the day of 75 (+3) to take the overnight lead into Round 2 of the 18th Metropolitan Junior Amateur Championship at Aberdeen Golf Club.  Solovic, who captured medalist honors at the 2016 Missouri Class 2 State Tournament leads Lucy Bloomstran who carded an 81 on Wednesday.  The ladies are competing for the Barbara A. Berkmeyer Trophy.

Matt Hoemann, a graduate of Washington High School, had the only subpar round in the Boy’s Championship with a 71 (-1) Wednesday at Aberdeen.  The University of Central Missouri signee was a 1st Team All-Metro Boys selection this past spring.  Hoemann has a 2-shot advantage going into the final round Thursday over Max Kreikemeier.  Defending champion Tommy Alferman is 8 shots back following an opening 79.  The Boys are competing for the James M. Holtgrieve Trophy

In the Boys 14-15 Age Division, Curt Hastie of Sunset CC fired a 1-under round of 71 to lead the way.  He is followed by Jack Cronin of Persimmon Woods GC with 78.  

In the Boys 11-13 Age Division we have a tie at the top between Luke McLaughlin and Ryan Mooney who each carded 88.  For all Round 1 results please visit the link below and tune in tomorrow for final scores to see who is crowned Metropolitan Junior Champions.
