Migdal Leads U.S. Amateur Qualifying After Day 1

Sam Migdal, hot off his victory at the MGA Stroke Play Championship last week, is tied for the lead after 18 holes at Spencer T. Olin Golf Course in the 2017 U.S. Amateur Qualifying Monday.  Migdal and Matthew Cheung (Oklahoma City, OK) fired 4-under par rounds of 68 Monday to position themselves for one of the three available spots to the U.S. Amateur.

Six find themselves one shot back at 69, Brad Carpenter, Drew Lilly, Blaine Buente, Ryan Sullivan, Joshua Kleinheider and Tommy Oliver.

The Low 30 plus and anyone within 8 shots of the final qualifying spot, the 69’s above, survived the cut to play Tuesday at Spencer T. Olin.  The 2017 U.S. Amateur will be played at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, CA August 14-20.  See all of today’s scoring and Round 2 starting times via the link below.
