Frost, Holtgrieve On Top After Round 1 of Senior Amateur
Jim Holtgrieve, 2007 Senior Amateur Champion, finds himself tied atop the leaderboard after one round and on some familiar turf at Westborough Country Club. Playing with 2012 Champion Andy Frost and defending champion Jack Eisenbeis, Holtgrieve had 4 birdies on the day but a couple double bogeys finished the day at 1-over 69 and tied with Frost.
Frost, who has been a 3-time runner-up in the Senior Amateur, had 3 birdies on the day en route to his 69. The two will be in the final group Tuesday along with Tom Barry who is one of 3 players at 3-over 71. The other at 71 are Scott Edwards and Eisenbeis. The final group will go at 10:01a from Hole 1.
In several age division players are competing for Low Gross and Low Net honors. Four-time Senior Amateur champion Don Dupske fired a 73 today; however, the amazing part of that score is Dupske is 81 years old!
