Players of Year and Service Awards Presented at Old Warson CC
It was a wonderful evening on Thursday at Old Warson Country Club as MAGA recognized and honored their 2017 champions, players of the year and presented its highest honor to one of St. Louis great golf ambassadors.
A great crowd was on hand at Old Warson Thursday night to recognize the accomplishments of our 2017 Players of the Year. Sam Migdal repeated a fine 2016 campaign to earn the 2017 Men’s Player of the Year. With wins in the 2017 Old Warson Cup, MGA Stroke Play Championship and runner-up in the MGA Amateur, Migdal distanced himself in the 2017 Player of the Year race. He will begin defense of the Player of the Year title as 2-time defending champion of the Old Warson Cup and #1 Seed in May at Old Warson.
2017 MEN’S PLAYER OF THE YEAR POINT STANDINGS
Jeff Johnson earned his 4th Senior Men’s Player of the Year Award this season. While Johnson did not have any wins in championships this year, his consistent fine play throughout the 2017 earned him the Senior Player of the Year.
2017 SENIOR MEN’S PLAYER OF THE YEAR POINT STANDINGS
Kathy Glennon was our 2017 Women’s Player of the Year. Glennon has had 2 great years on the course, but 2017 was especially exceptional with wins at the MGA Women’s Mid-Amateur, qualifying for the US Women’s Mid-Amateur and capturing the St. Louis Women’s District Invitational this summer.
Finally, it was an honor to present the association’s highest honor, the Meritorious Service Awards to Bob Phillips. Phillips has been a volunteer for MAGA for almost a quarter of a century and has been one of the great ambassadors for amateur golf in St. Louis for much longer.
Thank you for those who attended a wonderful evening and much appreciation to Old Warson Country Club for playing host to another MAGA event.
