2018 Amateur Series Slate of Events

2018 Metropolitan Amateur Series Enters Ninth Season

St. Louis, MO – The Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association introduced the Amateur Series to provide individuals of all ages and playing abilities the opportunity to compete on a level playing field with others.  Players can choose from several Divisions to play within based on their age and whether they want to play in a gross or net competition.  In 2018, MAGA will be expanding the Divisions to provide Super Senior Open and Net Divisions for age 65 and over.

The Amateur Series has been fortunate to have Imperial as the presenting sponsor of this program the last two seasons and that relationship will continue in 2018.

MAGA has a fantastic lineup of clubs for the 2018 Amateur Series.  The Amateur Series will kick off April 30 at WingHaven Country Club.  This has been a popular kickoff each of the last 3 years and an opportunity to play the Jack Nicklaus design.  Tamarack Golf Course made its debut in 2016 and received instant notoriety on the Series tour.  It returns in 2018 and will host May 14.

A couple new sites for 2018 will take the middle two events.  Florissant Golf Club will host June 11 and Missouri Bluffs Golf Club July 19.  Florissant hosted one event in the 1st year of the Amateur Series and is excited to welcome back the Amateur Series this coming season.  Missouri Bluffs is not new to the Series, but has not hosted in a few years.

A new venue in 2017, The Quarry at Crystal Springs was a hit among the players.  It returns in 2018 to host the August event on the 17th of the month.  Sunset Hills Country Club in Edwardsville has been a favorite for many years on the tour.  After a year away in 2017, Sunset Hills returns to host the final regular season event on September 24.

Aberdeen Golf Club has hosted each of the Amateur Series Championships to date and is back to host the 2018 championship.  The championship will take place October 13-14 in the fall.  Players who play during the regular season earn points based upon their performances for the opportunity to be invited to the season ending championship.

The Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association conducts ten (10) championships, ten (10) USGA qualifying rounds and its Amateur Series of events each season.  MAGA provides the USGA GHIN Handicap Service to 140 member clubs across the St. Louis region and Southern Illinois.  Additionally, MAGA is the regional authority on the Rules of Golf and Amateur Status.  For more information, visit www.metga.org.
