MAGA Hires Four Interns for the 2018 Season

Each season State and Regional Golf Associations around the country are fortunate enough to be a part of the PJ Boatwright Internship Grant program through the USGA.  This grant allows SRGAs the opportunity to hire young men and women and give them experience in golf administration.  MAGAs staff of Curt Rohe and Maggie Smith are Boatwright “alums”.  Rohe was a Boatwright Intern with MAGA in 1998-99 and Smith spent 6-months with the Mississippi Golf Association in 2016 as a Boatwright Intern. And for the first time this year, MAGA is introducing a new communications internship position for the summer. MAGA is excited to announce the hiring of 2 MAGA Boatwright interns, a MAGA Communications intern, and a SIGA Boatwright intern.

Nick Wojciechowski is joining MAGA as our 6-month intern. Nick interned with MAGA during Summer 2015. Nick is a native of St. Louis. He is graduating from Mizzou this May with a Bachelor of Science in Parks, Recreation, and Sport with an emphasis in Sport Management. Nick was also a recipient of the Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship. As a part of the 6-month internship, Nick will get the opportunity to travel to the USGA Headquarters in Liberty Corner, New Jersey for the PJ Boatwright Orientation.

Mickey Duncan is one of our two 3-month PJ Boatwright Interns this summer. Mickey is a native of a northern suburb of Chicago but came down to Missouri to attend Mizzou. Mickey will be graduating this May receiving his Bachelor of Science in Parks, Recreation, and Sport, emphasis in Sport Management, alongside our 6-month intern Nick. Mickey is currently a Marketing Intern with Mizzou Athletics, where he has worked with several different athletic programs, including football and tennis.

Adrian Brown will be returning as our 3-month Boatwright Intern for the Southern Illinois Golf Association. She is a native of Carterville, Illinois and has spent the past 2 summers with the SIGA. Most of her time will be spent at the SIGA office and their events but will assist with some of the MAGA Championships as well. Adrian is in her second to last semester at McKendree University, where she is a part of the Women’s Golf Team. She will graduate in December with a degree in Elementary Education.

Lastly, Mark McFarland will be joining the MAGA staff as our first ever Communications Intern. Mark is a St. Louis native. He graduated from Murray State University in December 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Television Production and Journalism. Mark has worked a lot with athletics throughout his time at Murray State and continuing that here in St. Louis writing for Arch City Media.
