Youth on Course Announces Partnership with Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association
Affordable Junior Golf Program Operational in Every U.S. Region
(PEBBLE BEACH, Calif.) – Youth on Course – the non-profit organization providing young people with subsidized golf, college scholarships, caddie programs and paid internships – partners with the Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association (MAGA) to bring affordable junior golf to St. Louis, Central and Southern Illinois region.
Members ages 6-18 in this territory will be able to join the Youth on Course national network and access golf for $5 or less per round at 800 facilities across 25 states. Having 135+ golf courses that stretch across the St. Louis Metropolitan and Illinois region, MAGA plans to announce participating courses in the coming weeks.
“It’s clear MAGA prioritizes the development of its junior golfers,” says Adam Heieck, Youth on Course Executive Director. “We’re excited to work together and help further their mission of making the game accessible and impart the values of golf on as many juniors as possible.”
In an 18-month span, Youth on Course has increased state and regional golf association partnerships by nearly 120 percent. Having already finalized affiliations with six other in 2018 (Golf Association of Philadelphia, Colorado Golf Association, Greater Cincinnati Golf Association, Iowa Golf Association, Maryland State Golf Association, Metropolitan Golf Association), Youth on Course continues to gain momentum. Operating in every U.S. region, Youth on Course has upwards of 30,000 active members. Since 2006, juniors have completed 650,000 rounds.
“Youth on Course is an initiative we are incredibly passionate about and felt the time was right to bring this to our region,” says Curt Rohe, Executive Director of the Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association. “Their subsidizing program gives us the ability to make our great courses more accessible to juniors of all skill levels and backgrounds.”
In addition to promoting the game through affordable access to golf, more than 200 individuals have benefited from Youth on Course scholarships totaling $1.25 million in financial support. The current college scholarship retention rate is 98 percent, with 53 students already graduated from a four-year university.
