Bryant Fires New Open Record 62 in Morning of Round 1
The morning of the first round of the Metro Open saw plenty of low scoring, including the lowest scoring round in Metro Open history.
Justin Bryant, from Kirkwood, MO jumped out to an early lead shooting a 62 (-9) in his first round. Bryant said he was battling a little bit of sickness and that might have helped him find his groove.
“I’m actually fighting a little sickness right now,” Bryant said. “I think that probably helped me today because I was trying to stay alive.”
Bryant later said he doesn’t need to change much heading into the second round tomorrow.
“I’m just going to be doing the same thing I did,” Bryant said. “I’m going to go home and probably honestly sleep. Tomorrow I’m going to go out and try and keep it simple, shoot at the targets and if it goes in, it goes in, if not, it not.”
Although Bryant is leading the tournament, he is not standing alone under par including Russell Jordan who completed his morning Round 1 at 66 (-5).
