Texan Earns Medalist Honors with 4-under 67 in U.S. Junior Amateur Qualifying
Jenson Rogenes, from Frisco, TX, had a bogey free round of 4-under 67 Monday at St. Clair Country Club to earn medalist honors in the 2018 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship qualifying. Fifty-five golfers ascended on Belleville, IL in hopes of grabbing 1 of the 2 spots available. Rogenes carded 4 birdies on the St. Clair layout to grab the first spot.
The second spot went to Luke Ludwig, from nearby Effingham, IL. Ludwig turned in Even par but would card 3 birdies on the back 9 to shoot 68 and punch his ticket to his first USGA championship. The 2018 U.S. Junior Amateur will be played July 16-21 at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield Township, NJ.
One other golfer was under par on the day, Reynold Lambert, from Birmingham, AL fired a 1-under par 70 for the 1st Alternate. Tommy Kuhl, from Morton, IL, would get the 2nd Alternate spot at Even par.
