15th East Side Amateur at Spencer T. Olin This Weekend
It is somewhat humbling to think this will be the 15th season of the East Side Amateur this weekend at Spencer T. Olin Golf Course. The fourth consecutive year at Spencer T. What began as an addition to the MAGA schedule to compliment the Normandie Amateur and, now defunct, Gateway Amateur, the East Side gave area amateurs another opportunity to compete on the weekend for Player of the Year points.
Spencer T. Olin is the 4th stop on the East Side journey, having first been played at Far Oaks in years 1 and 2. Then a 7-year run at Belk Park Golf Course from 2006-12. Lockhaven CC was home to the East Side for two years and now Spencer T. Olin.
Ryan Eckelkamp found his way to the winner’s circle in 2017, with a 6-shot victory. Eckelkamp scorched the Spencer T. with rounds of 69-68 to run away with the title. That victory catapulted his season where he would finish runner-up to Sam Migdal in the Player of the Year race.
Round 1 will kick off Saturday morning with a 7:30a shotgun start. Live hole-by-hole scoring will be available throughout the weekend to follow all the action. Click here to stay up to date.
