Four Advance to Norwood Hills CC and the 32nd U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur

St. Louis Country Club Hosted Qualifying Monday

The 32nd U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship will be played September 22-27 here at Norwood Hills Country Club.  Unprecedented for a metropolitan region, this will make three (3) consecutive years a USGA championship has been conducted in the region.  Old Warson Country Club hosted the 2016 U.S. Senior Amateur and Boone Valley Golf Club last year hosted the U.S. Girls’ Junior Amateur.

Fourteen ladies teed it up on the iconic St. Louis Country Club on Monday in hope of securing one of the four spots available.  St. Louis has hosted several USGA qualifiers in recent years when the championship was played in the region.

Kayla Eckelkamp, the Maryville University graduate from Washington, MO, led all golfers with a 2-over par 73 to earn medalist honors.  Eckelkamp also qualified in 2017 for the Women’s Mid-Am.  Kallie Harrison, from St. Louis and a Norwood Hills CC member, was 4 back of Eckelkamp with a 77 to earn a spot.

Michelle Butler, from Columbia, MO, shot a 78 to earn her first trip to the Women’s Mid-Am.  Butler, a former Mizzou golfer, is joined by another Mizzou grad and golfer, Kelli Kirchoff, from Wentzville, MO.  Kirchoff shot 79 to earn the final spot and is a member of the MAGA Executive Board.

Allison Mayborg, from Cincinnati, OH and Caroline Rouse, from New York, NY, each shot 80 and would playoff for the alternate positions.  Mayborg made par at the Par 3 16th to earn 1st Alternate.
