Round 1 In the Books at MAGA Senior; Ollie Crow Leads Championship
The 26th Senior Amateur Championship wrapped up Round 1 Tuesday at Persimmon Woods Golf Club, a long, hot day. Ollie Crow, a member of the Metropolitan Golf Club, our online eClub, leads after day 1 with a 1-over par 72. Crow, while many may now know him, has had some success with MAGA. He has been a regular on the Amateur Series circuit the last few years and captured the Senior Open Championship last fall.
Crow (pictured at left) leads by 2 shots over Dan Kelley (Meadowbrook CC) and Tom Pruden (Persimmon Woods GC). The three will play in the final grouping Wednesday for the George F. Meyer Championship.
Lurking 3 shots back at 75 of Crow are two Persimmon Woods members, Brian Hall and Robert Meeh, along with David Pfeil and Jay Jordan, of The Legends CC and Norwood Hills CC respectively. Current 2018 Senior Player of the Year points leader Buddy Allen is in at 76.
The George F. Meyer Championship Division will play in the afternoon wave on Wednesday teeing off from Hole 1 & 10. The final group of Crow, Kelley and Pruden will go at ?????.
Several others are competing in their respective Age Divisions for Low Gross and Low Net honors. They will play in a morning wave on Wednesday to wrap their 2018 Senior Amateur.
