Sobbe Cup Matches Set for 2019
44 Teams to Compete in Season Long Matches
The Metropolitan Cup took on a new look and name in 2018, when MAGA introduced a beautiful new trophy and renamed the season long inter-club event the Thomas O. Sobbe, Jr. Cup. Friends of Tom Sobbe donated the antique silver which was found in London.
Forty-four teams from 37 member clubs will begin play in the 2019 Sobbe Cup later this month. Meadowbrook CC took home the title in a close match with Norwood Hills CC at Glen Echo last fall. This was Meadowbrook’s 5th overall title in the event, one behind Bellerive CC for the most ever.
The 44 teams are divided among 11 Divisions where they will play in Round Robin play in hopes of advancing to the Playoffs. The Sobbe Cup will be decided with the Semifinals and Final Match being played on Friday, September 20th at Lake Forest Country Club.
