9-Hole Championship Brings Out New Competitors to MAGA Event
When MAGA introduced the 9-Hole Championship in 2018, the goal was to reach out to a new sector of golfer, mission accomplished Saturday at Ballwin Golf Club. While we saw some regular names, and winners on Saturday, we also had numerous newcomers to the MAGA championship scene.
Forty-four (44) total golfers teed it up to compete in the inaugural championship. Two ladies, one in each of the Women’s and Senior Women’s Divisions. Maria Morrison was our lone Women’s Division competitor and Alicia Anderson in the Senior Women’s. They were both hesitant to register thinking they may be the only ladies, but ultimately did, enjoyed themselves and will be a great recruiting tool for the 2020 version of the 9-Hole.
While we had several newcomers, a familiar face and leader in the current Men’s Player of the Year Points Standings, Crimson Callahan would take the Men’s Low Gross honor. Callahan fired a 2-under round of 34 over the Ballwin layout. We must say, could not appreciate more having these familiar faces out supporting these events as well! On the Net side, Justin Zhang (Metropolitan eClub) took home the Low Net honors with a 1-under 35.
In the Senior Division, David Speicher would take Low Gross honors with a 1-under 35. Myrle Hughes and Bill Slantz would both come in with 3-under 33’s on the Net Side of the Senior Division. Hughes would take Low Net honors in the scorecard playoff.
Again, thank you to all the competitors in Saturday’s 9-Hole Championship! Ballwin is already committed to hosting us again in 2020, so we look forward to seeing you back and many more. For all of today’s results, click on the link below.
