Bauer; Hoisington Tied Atop Junior Amateur Leaderboard at 6-under
Kolten Bauer and Braden Hoisington each fired 6-under par 66 to open play in the 20th Metropolitan Junior Amateur at St. Clair Country Club on Monday. Bauer, a graduate of Alton Marquette this past spring, had two Eagles and 4 birdies to go along with one bogey on his scorecard to record his 6-under total.
Hoisington, a upcoming junior at Fort Zumwalt West, was Gateway Athletic Conference South Division player of the year as a sophomore this past season. He plays out of Persimmon Woods GC and had 1 eagle, 6 birdies to go along with 2 bogeys on his scorecard for his 66.
Bauer and Hoisington will be joined in the final grouping Tuesday with Kal Kolar. Kolar, a sophomore to be at Maplewood-Richmond Heights had the clubhouse lead for quite awhile posting a 2-under par 70. These three will go off at 10:00am and battle to have their name go on the James M. Holtgrieve Trophy!
In the Girls’ Junior Amateur, Momo Kikuchi leads after a round of 80 at St. Clair CC. Kikuchi will be a senior at Pattonville High School this fall. Four back of Kikuchi are Briana McMinn, sister to 2018 Girls’ Junior Champion Alyssa McMinn and Grace Claney from Greenbriar Hills CC.
In the Age 12-13 Divisions, Austin Jacobs from Whitmoor CC had an impressive round of Even par 72 to lead the Boy’s. On the Girls’ side in the Age 12-13 Division Avery McLaughlin of Bellerive CC shot 77.
