Ryan Sullivan Wins East Side Amateur in Playoff

Buddy Allen Runner-Up in Open; Takes Senior Division

Ryan Sullivan (pictured left) found his way into his second playoff of the season Sunday at Spencer T. Olin Golf Course at the 16th East Side Amateur.  Sullivan was in a playoff in May for the Normandie title; however, this time he capitalized and captured his first MAGA event.  Sullivan had rounds of 68-71 for his 5-under total.

Buddy Allen started the day in 2nd at -5, which is where him and Sullivan stood after 36-holes.  Back and forth the entire back 9, several others were in the hunt and had opportunities.  First round leader Alex Ciaramitaro fell back after 3 bogeys on the front but was in the mix until a triple bogey at the par 4 13th.

The par 4 13th also would bite eventual champion Sullivan.  Sullivan had the lead at -7 but would also make a triple at Hole 13 to fall back.  A final birdie at 15 would get him to -5 and he would finish one group ahead of Allen at that number.  Allen had birdie looks at 17 and 18, but could not convert.

Sullivan and Allen would go back to Hole 18 and a par on the 1st playoff hole would seal the deal for Sullivan.

While Allen would finish Runner-up in the Open Division, he would go on to capture the Senior Division by 2 shots over Joe Malench.  Allen would finish with rounds of 67-72 for 5-under, while Malench had a good weekend at 71-70-141.
