Brad Carpenter Takes 2 Shot Lead to Saturday of Amateur
All Franklin County CC Final Pairing For Final Round
Brad Carpenter is the only competitor to fire 2 rounds under par in the 29th Amateur Championship this week and will take a 2 shot advantage into Saturday’s finale. Carpenter, a recent Missouri State University grad, had rounds of 70-66 (-6) over Rounds 1 & 2 to lead with one day to go. His second round included 6 birdies and 1 bogey and a 3 consecutive birdie stretch from holes 6-8, his front 9. A closing birdie at the last gives him his advantage.
Carpenter finds himself in the final pairing Saturday with a fellow Franklin County Country Club member and first round leader, Ryan Eckelkamp. Eckelkamp, who opened with a 5-under 66 Thursday, fired a 72 Friday to finish at 4-under. Carpenter and Eckelkamp will be in the final pairing at 10:20am.
Sam Migdal equaled the low round of the Friday with a 4-under 67 to vault up into a solo 3rd place at -3. Colin Stolze also had a 67 on Friday and finds himself at T-4 (-2) with Chris Ferris, Alex Locke and Curtis Brokenbrow.
2009 champion Skip Berkmeyer and Nathan McCutcheon round our the top 9, and players under par over 36 holes at -1. Defending champ Drew Pranger will miss the final round by a shot.
