2019 Thomas O. Sobbe Cup to be Decided Friday
The season long Thomas O. Sobbe Cup Matches has reached its “Final Four” of clubs and is set to be decided Friday at Lake Forest Country Club. Forty-four teams from clubs and courses across the St. Louis region began the spring in hopes of coming out on top.
Defending, and five time champion, Meadowbrook Country Club looks to repeat and tie Bellerive Country Club for most titles at six in the events 26 year history. Meadowbrook will tangle with The Legends Country Club in one Semifinal, while Glen Echo Country Club and Old Hickory Golf Club will face off in the 2nd Semifinal. Both Semifinals will play Friday morning beginning at 7:30am. The winning clubs from the morning will face off in the afternoon for the Sobbe Cup title.
The event was renamed the Thomas O. Sobbe Cup in 2018 after the passing of long-time MAGA Board Member and all-around amateur golf supporter Tom Sobbe, known to many as “Sob” passed away. Friends of Sobbe rallied together and purchased a beautiful new antique silver trophy which was named the Thomas O. Sobbe, Jr. Cup.
