Montgomery Leads Women’s Amateur After Round 1

Montgomery Poised to Become Multiple Time Champion

McKenna Montgomery shot an Even par round of 71 at Greenbriar Hills Country Club on Tuesday to hold a 5 shot lead heading to Round 2.  Montgomery, the 2017 Women’s Amateur Champion, looks to become the 4th multiple time winner in the history of the championship. The Lindenwood

 University dual-sport athlete, she also competes on the women’s basketball team, leads 2020 MAGA Girls’ Junior Champion Momo Kikuchi with the 5 shot advantage. 

Kikuchi would look to become the only person to double up in a season and win the Junior and Women’s titles in the same year. One back of Kikuchi is KateKeuss at 77.  Keuss recently participated in the 90th LNGA Amateur Championship in Gallatin, TN.  

In the Net Championship, Peggy Shamleffer had a 1-under 70 to lead the A-Flight.  While Nanci Rosch had a 1-over 72 to lead the B-Flight.  

Round 2 will conclude Wednesday at Greenbriar Hills Country Club.  The champion will be the first to hoist the new Jayne M. Watson Trophy!
