Lake St. Louis, MO – The 16th World Wide Technology Metropolitan Open Championship presented by Dell Technologies is set for this week, June 17-19, at Lake Forest Country Club in Lake Saint Louis.

It is the second year in a row MAGA’s Open Championship will be hosted by Lake Forest.

The 134-player field is made of professionals from 27 states across the country plus Australia, Ireland, England and Canada, along with the top amateurs from our region.

Last year’s winner, Seth Fair, returns to defend his title. The University of Indianapolis graduate has made starts on the Korn Ferry Tour, the PGA TOUR Latinoamerica and the Frome Tour. Fair fired three rounds under par to claim the trophy last year and finished at 8-under 205 (67-70-68).

Michael Visacki is in the field again this year. As most golf fans know, he made a 20-footer in a playoff at a Monday qualifier this past April to earn his first career PGA TOUR start at the Valspar Championship. An emotional phone call with his father letting him know the dream had become a reality was caught on camera and went viral. Visacki was given a sponsor exemption for the Charles Schwab Challenge for his second career PGA TOUR start in May.

He finished tied for third in last year’s Open Championship at Lake Forest. Visacki has made one start on the Korn Ferry Tour, and won 37 times on the West Florida Pro Tour.

Kamaiu Johnson is another name to watch in the field. Johnson finished tied for third with Visacki in last year’s Open Championship and has made one Korn Ferry Tour start. He was given sponsor exemptions for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and the Honda Classic in 2021.

Michael Feagles comes in with a very strong collegiate golf resume. The recently turned pro was first-team All-Big Ten all five years while at Illinois. He made the winning putt to give the Illini the Big Ten team title at Crooked Stick. The Scottsdale, Arizona native finished fourth at the NCAA Championships and played No. 1 for Illinois during match play at Grayhawk Golf Club. Feagles advanced to Final Qualifying for the U.S. Open out of MAGA’s local qualifier at Spencer T. Olin in early May.

Ryan Eckelkamp returns after being Low Amateur a year ago. Eckelkamp and Riley Ahearn were the lone amateurs to make the cut last year.

First round gets underway Thursday, June 17, at 7:15 a.m. with split tee times. The field will be cut to low 40 and ties after 36 holes before the final round Saturday morning.

The winner of the Metropolitan Open Championship will take home $25,000.
