MAGA to Conduct U.S. Amateur Qualifying at Aberdeen Golf Club

Eureka, MO. – U.S. Amateur qualifying conducted by MAGA is set for this Monday and Tuesday, July 5 and 6, at Aberdeen Golf Club in Eureka.
The 121st playing of the U.S. Amateur Championship will take place August 9-15 at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. Longue Vue Club will serve as co-host for stroke play.
Nearly 8,000 players from around the world compete for a spot in the championship, with only 312 comprising the starting field.
114 players will tee it up for three qualifying spots and two alternate positions Monday and Tuesday at Aberdeen. The field will be cut before the final 18 holes Tuesday morning.
Alex Cusumano returns to the field after earning the 2nd Alternate position from MAGA’s 2019 U.S. Amateur qualifier at Meadowbrook Country Club. There was no qualifying in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Curtis Brokenbrow is one to watch in the field. Just last weekend, the Missouri Baptist University graduate took home the 114th Missouri Amateur Championship title. Brokenbrow also earned Low Amateur honors at the 16th World Wide Technology Metropolitan Open Championship.
Jason Landry joins the field after placing first in the 2020 Griesedieck Championship. Landry also earned the title of Runner-Up at the 2021 Old Warson Cup back in June.
Christopher Ferris comes in as the reigning Metropolitan Amateur Champion. The senior at UMSL is a two-time Metropolitan Junior Amateur champion and a Jay Randolph Achievement Award recipient.
First tee times will go off at 7:30 am CT off holes 1 and 10. Spectators are welcome.
